Scanning
Images and flatbed scanners
Photoshop
- Open Adobe Photoshop from the Start menu
- Select File > Import > WIA Support
Note: By default, files are saved to a “unique subfolder using date today” in the Pictures library
Windows fax and scan
- Open Window Fax and Scan from the Start menu
- Select “New Scan”
Note: By default, files are saved to a folder named Scanned Documents in the Documents library
Document to text readable PDF from flatbed scanners
- Open Acrobat Professional from the Start menu by searching for “Acrobat Pro”
- Select Create > PDF from Scanner > Custom Scan… and select
WIA-WIA CanoScan LiDE 100
or
WIA-Epson Expression 1640XL
for “Scanner:”, as appropriate
Note: By default, files are saved to the Documents library
Slide scanning (no longer located in the lab, but rather in the Forestry Administrative Office)
- Open VueScan from the Desktop
Note: By default files are saved to the Pictures library
Bulk scan
- Turn off the scanner
- Gently lay it down on its side so the power button is facing you on the bottom right
- Remove the individual scanner adapter and replace it with the SF-210 bulk adapter (make sure this adapter is inserted snugly)
- Turn on the scanner
- On the bulk adapter, pull back the spring loaded plate furthest from the scanner and load your slides, They should be loaded in landscape orientation and such that if you were viewing them they would be backwards. (You may pull the plate back all the way to the end where there is a notch that the plate will stay while you load up to 50 slides)
- Open VueScan from the Desktop
- Set/verify that “Batch Scan” is set to All
