First-Generation Pathways

A program designed to grow with you at NAU! The First-Generation Pathways within YourPath@NAU supports first-generation college students through their educational journeys. Students, like you, are encouraged to get involved with events offered by the Office of First-Generation Programs and complete tasks facilitated by self-guided reflections, e-portfolio submissions, and surveys.

Program Vision

What is the purpose of college and what are students supposed to learn? These questions drive the design of the First-Generation Pathways program. When you engage with campus activities, you have the opportunity to build connections and develop the skills needed to be successful in the future.  By participating, you will see progress, growth, and positive change in yourself as you discover what your education has to offer inside and outside of the classroom.

You, like many other First-generation college students, are actively pursuing multiple pathways to success including academic, personal, and professional goals. Pathways require a series of decisions, actions, and navigating various terrains to achieve desired results. The journey requires effort, courage, a toolkit, and community. We can tell you from personal experience, obstacles and barriers may appear to block the pathway, however, we believe you are capable of graduating with your degree.

Milestones

As you progress through the First-Generation Pathways, you will earn milestones, points, and badges in this gaming system, which can be used to discuss transferable skills with future employers, leaders, and graduate programs.
