MA in AL/TESL: Applied Linguistics Track
The Applied Linguistics track in NAU’s MA in AL/TESL program covers a blend of theoretical and practical issues, ranging from linguistics to ESL methodology. In addition, you will have the opportunity for a one-semester supervised teaching experience.

- Assessment for Second Language Skills
All MA in AL/TESL students take Foundations of Language Teaching and Learning, Grammatical Foundations, Introduction to Linguistics, and Sociolinguistics.
In the Applied Linguistics emphasis, you will take four electives, two of which must be graduate TESL/applied linguistics courses.
Outcomes
One goal of this track is to prepare students for Ph.D. level study in applied linguistics.
