Benjamin Tucker completed his Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in 2007. Prior to joining Northern Arizona University, he worked as a Professor of Phonetics at the University of Alberta for 15 years. His research focuses on cognitive aspects of the production and perception of spontaneous speech (e.g., “Wazat?” for “What is that?”) over the lifespan. He also works on deep neural networks for speech and on the documentation of endangered and under-documented languages.
