Student success and access
Provide and expand access to rigorous and high-quality learning opportunities:
- Increase access to higher education, particularly for Arizona students.
- Enhance student learning through high-quality, student-centered educational experiences and high-quality professional advising.
- Increase tutoring in mathematics during summer for incoming freshman and sophomore students to ensure success.
- Increase faculty engagement in pedagogical professional development.
- Enhance student experience through internships, co-ops, research, and hands-on practice, and increase job placement rates within 6 months after graduation.
Research and discovery
Expand the boundaries of fundamental understanding and technological innovation through impactful scholarship:
- Increase nationally and internationally recognized scholarship.
- Expand opportunities for research-based learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Increase scholarship-based community partnerships.
Commitment to underrepresented students
Become the nation’s leading engineering and applied science college serving underrepresented students:
- Increase enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of Native American, Hispanic and Latine (Latino or Latina), and underrepresented students.
- Expand culturally competent learning and mentorship opportunities.
- Increase community partnerships in scholarship and education with Native nations.
Industry connection
Strengthen partnerships and reciprocity with the local, state, regional, national, and global industry and STEM communities:
- Expand joint educational and scholarly initiatives with industry and STEM communities.
- Strengthen partnerships and collaborations with alumni and supporters.
- Increase the percentage of course/capstone projects sponsored by industry partners.
Stewardship
Ensure long-term sustainability of the college and its operations:
- Increase the financial stability of the college by identifying and implementing efficiencies that do not compromise success in our mission, and by generating multiple revenue sources.
- Engage in continuous improvement of our curriculum and degree programs.
- Recruit and retain committed and high-achieving staff, educators, and scholars, and foster a supportive working environment.
- Ensure physical safety as an integral part of the learning and working environment.
- Develop new financial models for state-wide, off-campus, and innovative online programs following new competency-based and stackable degrees.
- Create labs that are design-based and sustainable for a 15-year window.
