History Alumni News Fall 2024
Joseph E. Shaffer III (MA ’86) and his wife Dr. Paula Kapp Greene recently published UNSUNG: Quiet Voices of the US Navy’s EOD Warriors and Their Families (Kindle Direct Publishing, 2022). They generously share 50% of the royalties from sales of the book with the Navy Special Operations Foundation and the EOD Warrior Foundation, both of which are 501(c)(3) non-profit foundations that support the families of the wounded and fallen EOD warriors in all four U.S. military services. They are also at work on a sequel to UNSUNG, this time about the Navy Diver community, which, as with their first book, has been approved for publication by the Navy’s Chief of Information. Congratulations!
Kevin Eoff (MA ’90, BS ’80) writes fondly of his days as a Lumberjack, watching football games outside before the Dome opened up and taking classes with his mentors Professors Kitterman, Kunze, Morley, and Moses. Glad you are enjoying the newsletter!
Jimmy Miller (Ph.D. ’86) may have retired after 54 years of teaching, but he continues to be active in history, volunteering in the Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village. He and his wife Sylvia fondly remember their days back at NAU in the early 1980s. We are glad you have kept in touch!
Patrick Conley (MA ’22) teaches at Missouri State University and Ozarks Technical Community College. He and his wife recently moved to Springfield, Missouri where they have purchased a home and are settling into their new community. We are so glad to hear that you are teaching history!
