Scholarships for graduate students in NAU’s College of Education
Northern Arizona University students who are working towards their graduate degree within the College of Education are encouraged to apply for these educational scholarships to help offset the cost of tuition. Each scholarship has its own set of criteria to meet for eligibility.
If an award requires full-time status, note that full-time status is 12 credit hours for undergraduate students and 9 credit hours for graduate students per awarded semester.

Dr. Irene A. Arden Educational Psychology Graduate Fund Accordion Closed
- Enrolled in the College of Education, majoring in Educational Psychology
- Demonstrated financial need
Meagan Lee Danielson Scholarship Accordion Closed
- Degree program of Educational Psychology, Educational Specialists
- Majoring in school psychology
Clarence E. Fishburn Scholarship Accordion Closed
- Graduate student
- Must be enrolled as full-time (9 hours or more)
- Majoring in an academic discipline at NAU’s College of Education
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- U.S. citizen
Lawrence V. Grinnell Educational Psychology Memorial Scholarship Accordion Closed
This fund shall be used to provide scholarships to support students who meet the following criteria:
- PhD student accepted into the NAU Educational Psychology Program
- must have 3.50 GPA or higher, where 4.0 = A
- written one page essay to identify:
- who inspired them to attend college?
- how will this funding assist them?
- describe their “pay it forward” story; what will they do with this degree and how will they help an upcoming student/generation?
The following criteria are preferred and are to be applied when possible:
- first generation college student
- currently serving or having served in the United States Armed Forces

- Graduate student in Educational Leadership
- U.S. citizen
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Dr. Betty J. Newlon Memorial Scholarship Accordion Closed
- Graduate student majoring in counseling
- Arizona resident
Jerry Petersen Scholarship Accordion Closed
- Research support for doctoral students (completed coursework and defended their prospectus) in the College of Education
- Submission of the COE General Scholarship Application is not a requirement for consideration
- Interested applicants must complete the online application which includes submission of a letter of interest and a copy of their dissertation prospectus
- The deadline for this application is Friday, April 6, 2018
