We strongly believe that scholarship activities form the central responsibility that distinguishes university faculty from other professionals. It is this belief that served as the catalyst for the creation of the COE Research Center (COERC). The COERC facilitates faculty scholarship that reflects the goals of the college and the many professional disciplines comprising the college. While the COERC provides direct service to COE faculty, it also provides research resources to our students. Watch our informative video to learn more.
About the COERC
The mission of the College of Education Research Center is to facilitate faculty productivity in research activities that contribute to the goals of the College of Education at Northern Arizona University and to the many professional disciplines comprising the college.

Objectives
- Support faculty research by providing training and resources in research methods and tools to increase faculty members’ knowledge and skills.
- Conduct and coordinate research seminars, workshops, lunch-and-learn sessions, and sabbatical presentations for COE faculty and students.
- Provide research resources (such as SPSS tutorials and IRB information) on the COERC website for COE faculty and students.
- Increase COE’s national reputation in the area of scholarship by using the COERC website to share and highlight faculty research, including publications, presentations, and sabbaticals.
- Provide information on professional conferences and research opportunities for COE faculty and students.
Services
The COERC currently offers support with basic literature searches and research consultation, which includes methodological planning and design prior to data collection. Please use the service request form to request services.

NAU Institutional Review Board
The NAU Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research oversees all research conducted by faculty, staff, and students that involves living human beings as participants in a study.

To apply for IRB review, register as a new user.
Take the required IRB training via the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). If you have not completed this training within the past three years, take it BEFORE submitting an IRB application.
