We greatly appreciate your donations. We have two types of funding priority needs: projects that directly support the Center for International Education (CIE), and those that advance global education at the university.
If none of these priorities are of interest to you, but you still wish to give in support of global education at Northern Arizona University, your gift can be treated as an unrestricted gift.
We welcome such gifts and assure you that it will be used to further institutionalize the global experience here at NAU.
Support for CIE students
Endowed education abroad scholarships ($1 million)
Be it through study, research, internships, or service learning, NAU students experience profound personal transformation when they participate in education abroad opportunities. Scholarships can provide the means to purchase airfare or subsidize participation in a short-term faculty-led summer program, and can translate to the experience of a lifetime.
Support for the advancement of global education at NAU
Endowed chairs for Islamic studies and global education ($1.5 million each)
The changing circumstances of our world require that our students are prepared with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to successfully negotiate and thrive in a highly interdependent and interconnected world upon graduation. These endowed chairs will bring a high level of attention on the campus to global education and allow students to engage with some of the experts in these areas of study.
Development funds for new short-term study abroad programs ($250,000)
Short-term faculty-led courses, although lacking the cultural immersion component of traditional study abroad programs, offer in-depth study of a particular subject in a locality that often compliments what has been taught in the classroom.
This is an important alternative path for global learning, and faculty leaders and students benefit tremendously from these learning opportunities. With the necessary resources, NAU faculty can develop more of these opportunities for our students.
