Photo Contest: "Building Bridges"

International Pavilion, Building 50A

The International Week Photo Contest titled, "Building Bridges" welcomes NAU students' original photo submissions featuring movement from around the world. These global action shots will be eligible for prizes up to $250, and must be submitted with a title by April 5th to abou.toure@nau.edu. Come vote for the top photos during International Week at the International Pavilion, Monday - Friday (April 10th - 14th). Visit the contest web page for more information!

Parade of Nations

Beginning at the Blome Building (building 2), ending at the University Union
NAU International Students from dozens of countries will parade around campus in a show of campus international diversity, in the 'kick-off' event for International Week!
 

Q-Chat

Havasupai C, University Union 2nd floor
Enjoy free food and join a Q-Chat hosted by IMQ to discuss international perspectives on being LGBTQIA+.

Zumba

Lose yourself in the music while sculpting and toning at the original dance-fitness party. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. No registration required!


Polyglot Palooza

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
International Pavilion, building 50A
A polyglot is a person who speaks at least five languages. Join the Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP) to learn the "must know" phrases of (1) Chinese, (2) French, (3) German, (4) Japanese, and (5) Spanish. Participants will practice key phrases in each language, play language games, and take home a survival card of phrases in five languages to tuck in their passport for their next trip around the world!

NAU Faculty and Staff Brown Bag Lunch: Hiring Foreign Faculty and Staff - Immigration Basics

 Passport Day

Blome Hall, Building 2, Conference Room
Open to all NAU students! Come get your first or renew your passport for only the US Dept. of State fee! We will waive the $35 execution fee payable to NAU for this one-day event. Open to all NAU students with valid current ID. Please refer to http://travel.state.gov/passport/ for a complete list of what you will need to bring. Passport photos can be purchased on site at this event for $10.

 Gentle Yoga

Build flexibility and improve posture through a series of gentle yoga poses. Relax and release stress while stretching and toning all over. This class is designed for all ages and skill levels but will focus more on the stretching and mental side of yoga rather than getting a work out. With gentle movements this class brings greater awareness to the breath and meditation practices associated with yoga. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat. No registration required!

Random Impulse Taiko

This is your opportunity to take part in Northern Arizona's first resident taiko group. The 2000 year old art form of Japanese Taiko drumming is a full body experience that combines martial arts, voice, and drumming for a dramatic, high energy experience.
 

Thursday, April 19:

Flow Yoga

International Pavilion, Building 50A
Designed for both beginners and advanced yogis, this class can range from a movement based work out to a long held stretching class to a deep meditation. Appropriate for all ages and skill levels, this class offers modifications to help you tailor your practice to your physical and mental needs. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat. No registration required!

Latin Dance Night

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

International Pavilion, Building 50A

Come and join us for a night of fun, entertainment, and dancing! There will be a quick 30-40 minute Bachata lesson, with the remainder of the time being filled with open dance. This will include salsa, cha cha, merengue, zouk, and bachata. All levels of dancers are welcome, from those who have never stepped on the dance floor, to the most experienced. Join us, for a night of excitement awaits!

Chinese Scholar Art Exhibit

You are welcome to peruse the art of two of NAU's visiting scholars, from Tianjin and Jiangxi China. The selections will include Chinese folk art and both Chinese and Western paintings.

 

International Festival

Come to the International Pavilion for a trip around the world, as NAU's international students, campus and community organizations present country and culture displays. Get your free 'CIE passport' and travel from country to country to see exhibits, arts & crafts, games, and other items and activities of interest.

International Idol

7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

DuBois Center Ballroom, Building 64
Spectacular internationally themed talent show featuring music, dance, and other cultural performances from NAU students. Prizes for contestants, all attending eligible for door prizes awarded throughout the evening. Show also features random surprises and NAU celebrity judges. All welcome, FREE ADMISSION! Come early to get the best seat!
