Williamson promoted to associate professor
Heather Williamson was promoted to associate professor for Northern Arizona University’s Center for Health Equity Research and the Department of Occupational Therapy.
Williamson has worked in health care, social services and public health addressing in the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Florida, Arkansas and Arizona. She earned her Doctorate of Public Health, Community and Family Health from the University of South Florida in 2015. Last year, she was elected to the board of directors for the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD).
In this role, she contributes at the national level to support AAIDD’s mission to “promote progressive policies, sound research, effective practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
Her goals are to address the health equity of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as other underserved populations.
