Congratulations 2021 fall graduates
Jaime Begay (Navajo), Tuba City, Arizona
Master in Public Health
Jaime Begay earned her bachelor’s degree in University Studies with minors in Community Health and Indigenous Health Studies from Northern Arizona University. Her prior work experiences paved the path for a Master of Public Health program specific to Indigenous populations. While at NAU, Begay worked as a graduate research assistant with the Center for Health Equity Research under the Navajo NARCH grant.
As a graduate student, Begay attended and co-presented at the Navajo Nation Human Research Review Board, SACNAS, and APHA conferences. Her accolades include Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant nominee, 2021 Distinguished Graduate for the Masters in Public Health program, and 2021 Distinguished Graduate for the College of Health and Human Sciences.
She received numerous scholarships which included the Louis H. and Betty J. Quayle, Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Native Americans for Community Action, Cobell, Tonaneesdizi Chapter, NAU Foundation, American Indian College Fund, Navajo Nation, and the Wassaja Memorial Scholarship.
Taylor Lane, Tucson, Arizona
Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Health
Taylor Lane earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University and a master’s degree in psychological sciences from NAU. She earned her Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Health from NAU and in January 2022, she will continue with CHER/SHERC as a research scientist.
“Working with SHERC has been so fulfilling and enlightening, and I am very excited to continue working with this work family,” she said.
