A new name, the same commitment to community and research
Letter from the Executive Director, Julie Baldwin
As our center continues to grow, we want to share an important update. Over time, our work has expanded to encompass a broader range of research and deeper community partnerships. As we evolve in response to the needs of our researchers and the communities we serve, we have changed our name to the Center for Community Health and Engaged Research (CHER). While our name has changed, our mission remains the same: to advance research that improves health outcomes, strengthens community partnerships, and fosters innovative approaches to addressing health disparities.
Our work continues to span critical areas of public health and biomedical research. We are deepening our engagement with communities by supporting frontline community health workers, exploring creative interventions and approaches to well-being, and expanding efforts to reduce harm related to substance use and chronic and infectious diseases. We remain committed to addressing health challenges in tribal and rural communities, advancing cancer prevention and treatment strategies, and training the next generation of researchers dedicated to community-driven solutions. We will continue to support transformative biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and community research that drives new discoveries in health and medicine.
Through these efforts, we reaffirm our dedication to researchers, students, partners, and the communities we serve. Whether through funding opportunities, training workshops, or collaborative initiatives, we are here to support work that leads to real and lasting change.
Now more than ever, the work we do is essential. The challenges facing public health are complex, but through collaboration, research, and community engagement, we will continue to move forward, seek solutions, and make a lasting impact.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We look forward to continuing our work together under our new name, with the same passion and commitment that have always defined our center.
Sincerely,
Julie Baldwin
