Young Authors Camp

Inspiring confidence.

Due to ongoing concerns about ensuring participants’ health, we will again postpone the Young Author’s Camp for the summer of 2021.

For those students with a love of the written word, NAU’s College of Arts and Letters offers an incredible summer experience. The Northern Arizona Young Authors Project gives students in fourth through eighth grades a safe environment to express themselves and develop their talents with students who share their creative abilities.

In a supportive, small group setting, instructors will help students share their work and learn to edit and publish stories. It’s a format designed to encourage and fuel creativity while learning about every aspect of writing.

The camp experience includes:

  • daily writing workshops
  • activities to activate the imagination
  • journal writing
  • instruction on specific writing styles
  • art projects to complement and draw out students’ writing such as creating their own superhero and using digital media to enhance their writing.
  • activities that help create a safe and productive environment for creative minds such as journal, poetry writing, and writing marathons.
