NAU Assistant Professor Zach Lerner was awarded a $2.1 million NIH grant for a major clinical trial to make walking easier for children with cerebral palsy.

Funded through a $2.1 million NIH grant, mechanical engineer and inventor Zach Lerner will launch a major clinical trial to test a treatment strategy for children with cerebral palsy (CP) using a lightweight, wearable robotic device that provides neuromuscular training to make walking easier. The project builds directly on the work Lerner has been doing at NAU for the past five years—developing an adaptive ankle exoskeleton device that offers a portable, effective way to improve mobility in children with CP.
