For this week’s #NAUArtistOfTheWeek, we feature Cameron Zucker, a photography major in the School of Communication and a local working artist of Flagstaff. Cameron describes himself as a dedicated photographic artist who works with “everything from large format film to cutting edge digital technology,” primarily from his homemade lab. What makes Cameron Zucker especially unique as a photographic artist is his use of platinum and palladium 24 karat gold orotones on vellum, which he says is only used by a handful of artists in North America.
Cameron is currently working on a project entitled “American Cathedral,” in which he is using illuminated landscapes and corresponding iconic wildlife to “evoke 15th Century illuminated manuscripts” and highlight “how Manifest Destiny still characterizes how Americans interact with their iconic landscapes.”
