New Media Art emphasis

Visualize your future!

Create avant-garde experiences

Our New Media Art program combines the aesthetics and expression found in studio arts with the analytical thinking and research traditionally found in the sciences: live performers engage with an audience on stage, roboticists design digital visualizations based on tidal patterns, and musicians meld DNA with classical music.

Practice high-tech alchemy

A New Media emphasis encompasses many fields, encouraging innovation in media as varied as video, 4-D design, 3-D printed sculpture, stop-motion animation, robotics, and other technologies. As a New Media Art student, you will collaborate with other departments on campus to inspire experimentation, interdisciplinary thinking, and problem solving through multimedia artwork.

Dissolve boundaries

A response to the information technology revolution and the digitization of cultural forms, New Media Art accelerates the evolution of art forms—digital, computer, multimedia, and interactive—and expands the genre to include recycled materials, social engagement, biological art, generative art, and other disparate media and methods.
