Scott Coor ’76
W. A. Franke College of Business
Scott Coor has been arguably the single most important figure in the growth and success of NAU’s business program. Coor’s influence dates back to his days as vice president of Delta Sigma Pi, when he invited Bill Franke, then CEO of Southwest Forest Industries, to speak to the business fraternity. The relationships that developed from that event eventually led to Franke’s $25 million commitment to the college. Beyond introducing Franke to NAU, Coor has been influential in helping the college provide valuable experiential learning opportunities to students. It was Coor who secured the college’s annual invitation to send students to meet with investment guru Warren Buffett, a program that has spanned a decade. Coor regularly accompanies the students at his own expense and inspires other alumni contributions to offset the cost to students. He also volunteers his time as a guest speaker in classes and arranges for other prominent professionals to do the same. His own successful business career includes co-founding Trendwood, Inc., a furniture manufacturer, where he is currently vice president of sales and marketing.
