Cliff Harkins nomination form
Dr. Cliff Harkins graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1933 and was president of the NAU Alumni Association in 1938. He was State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Arizona, as well as the Superintendent of the Madison District in Phoenix during his 50 year career in education. He pioneered education advancement in Arizona and received the Distinguished Citizen award himself in 1974. The award was subsequently named in his honor. Cliff died in 1992. The Dr. Cliff Harkins Distinguished Citizen of the Year ward is presented annually to recognize distinguished service to non profit organizations; governmental assignments at the municipal, county, state or federal level; or other outstanding citizen service.
The nomination deadline is July 1, 2020. All NAU Alumni Association awards will be presented at Homecoming 2020.
