passed away on May 4, 2019. He was an integral member of the NAU Alumni Association Board. Tyrone volunteered as an alumni mentor with the Black Student Union and the department of Ethnic Studies at NAU.Tyrone was a great man of service for his community. He was a loved and respected Nevada state legislator who was a passionate champion for education and homelessness initiatives. In 2000, he completed his Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Tyrone retired from his 25-year career in Health, Human and Community service fields and was inducted into NAU’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Hall of Fame in 2017. While enjoying retirement, he was working to expand his own business, Thompson Career Solutions. His business focused on workforce development, organizational capacity building, training and career/life coaching. Tyrone was appointed to the Nevada State Legislature by the Clark County Commission. He served in a variety of roles including as the Chairman of Education and member of the Judiciary and Health & Human Services Committees.
was selected as the 2017 Leader of the Year for the Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown hotel. During her three years at the property, she started their Leadership Development Program and transitioned into the Assistant Director of Housekeeping. Shelby, recently relocated to Austin, Texas and began her new role as the Learning & Development Manager at Fairmont Austin. Shelby is responsible for facilitating all company learning programs and standards. She also acts as an internal performance consultant, assisting in facilitating departmental meetings, focus groups and team-building activities.
