New Student Orientation is now part of the “Lumberjack Welcome”

Will NAU be hosting in-person Summer Orientation sessions in the month of June for Fall 2024 new students?

Admissions and Enrollment Services is planning a redesign of the New Student Orientation experience using best practices and current research to meet the needs of all students. Instead, we are relocating all in-person orientation-related activities to the week of move-in, which is scheduled for August.

What are the dates of Orientation for Fall 2024 new students?

The in-person components of orientation experience – known as Lumberjack Welcome –  will begin alongside the Campus Living Move-in on Wednesday, August 21st through Sunday, August 25th with additional welcome programming and events continuing into the beginning of the semester.

How does a student’s move-in time affect Orientation?

Students will be able to select a specific date and time to move-in into their campus living communities. Students will be able to see the options for move-in within their housing portal later during the Spring semester.

What will be available for students and families to attend during the summer?

Admissions and Enrollment Services is planning on hosting virtual webinars offering pertinent information that students and families will need as they prepare to join the NAU community in August.

Will there be Orientation programming specifically for parents and families?

Yes, Admissions and Enrollment Services in collaboration with FACTS (Family Access, Communication, Transition and Support) and Family Resources are planning to offer webinars throughout the summer and an in-person event for families during the in-person orientation in August. For updates about Orientation and to receive information specifically designed to prepare families for their student’s first year as a Lumberjack, we encourage you to sign up for The Lumberjack Family Hub.

How much does orientation cost?

Lumberjack Welcome will not have a cost for students; all programming during Lumberjack Welcome will be paid for by student fees.

Is Lumberjack Welcome required?

Lumberjack Welcome is required for student success, we encourage all first year and transfer students to engage with the new student programming that will be available.

How can students prepare prior to Lumberjack Welcome?

Beginning early this summer, an online course will become available in Canvas. This course will include modules designed to prepare new students for their first day as a Lumberjack.  We encourage students to complete the online course prior to attending Lumberjack Welcome activities in August.
