How are you leaving your mark at NAU? Join our community and become an Academic Peer Navigator to discover how your academic and social experiences can help first-year students!  This is your opportunity to join a group who is making a difference on campus and in the lives of first-year Lumberjacks.  As an Academic Peer Navigator you will be able to connect with these students and become a key role model in their lives as they transition to college.
 
Information Sessions
   Monday, October 2nd at 6:00pm-7:00pm, HLC Room 2405
   Wednesday, October 4th at 5:00pm-6:00pm, HLC Room 2405
   Friday, October 13th at 1:00pm-2:00pm, HLC Room 2405
Peer Coach
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring for first-year and/or international students
  • Attend assigned NAU 120A/NAU 130/NAU 180 classes weekly and co-facilitate activities and lessons
  • Work approximately 11 hours per week
  • Attend and participate in ATP Events
  • Engage in all trainings and weekly meetings
  • Conduct yourself professionally and ethically as a mentor on campus
Peer Instructor
  • Teach two sections of NAU 100 as the instructor 
  • Facilitate weekly lesson plans
  • Schedule and attend weekly office hours
  • Work approximately 9 hours per week
  • Engage in weekly Teaching Team meetings
  • Conduct yourself professionally and ethically as a mentor on campus
  • Attend and participate in ATP Events

Peer Navigator Requirements:
  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative and semester GPA
  • Freshman, sophomore or junior status to apply
  • Enrollment in the training class during Spring 2018 Term 
    • Coaches- Monday/Wednesday 4:00 PM - 5:15PM
    • PI's- Tuesday/Thursday 4:00PM - 5:15 PM

  • If selected for an in person interview, you will be required to bring a paper copy of your resume and a cover letter as your “ticket in”. You may wish to begin preparing these materials in advance of scheduling an interview.

Interview Timeline:
Group Interviews
Group Interviews will be held on October 18th and 22nd. Applicants will be emailed more information after they have applied.
Individual Interviews
Individual Interviews will be held between October 24-November 3rd. Applicants will be emailed more information throughout the application process.
Offer
Applicants will be notified on November 9th if they have or have not been accepted to be a Peer Navigator.
