GENISIS-X I the Growth and Empowerment Neighborhood Initiative for Strengthening the Individual Success of eX-felons. Interns are needed 10-20 hours a week to help with case management for summer and fall semesters. 

Funded by the US Department of Justice, Genisis-X is a reentry program for people who have a past conviction or who are on probation or parole (excluding sexual offense convictions) and are seeking to reintegrate into the community.  We offer the following free services:

  • job placement
  • job development and job coaching
  • career assistance
  • educational opportunity assistance
  • emergency services assistance (including bus passes, clothing vouchers, and fees to obtain ID)
  • government application assistance
  • general case management


Interns will:

  • work directly with clients to assist them in obtaining needed services as outlined in their Individual Reintegration Plan
  • help clients locate needed housing, education, emergency services, job referrals, and additional services identified by staff and client


This position requires:

  • interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and consensus building
  • the ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time
  • no convictions in past three years
  • knowledge of targeted population and community resources is preferred
