• Bachelor of Arts, French with minor in Sociology - Grambling State University
• Master of Arts, Public Policy and International Affairs - Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania
Why I chose NAU: During my on-campus interview, I really enjoyed the intimate feel of Flagstaff and of the campus. Additionally, I saw NAU as somewhere where I could grow personally, professionally and academically, hence my decision to work here! I have not regretted my decision since! NAU Rocks!
Why I am excited to be an RHD: I am excited to be a Residence Hall Director here as it allows me to mentor, motivate and motivate tomorrow's leaders. Additionally, being a foreign professional, the position is invaluable in helping me acculturate into mainstream American society, through the direct interactions that I get with students, faculty and staff on a daily basis on this campus.

Name: Ashley Pena
Major: Public Health with minors in Chemistry, Biology, and Spanish
Hometown: Tucson, AZ
Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU because it was the farthest in-state school from home that I could go to and the weather is amazing. I love the outdoors, especially when it snows.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: I am excited to work as an RA because of all the amazing people you get to meet along the way.
Name: Sophie Church
Major: Comparative Cultural Studies: Art History
Hometown: Aurora, OH
Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU because I did not know Arizona had such diverse environments and wildlife. When I first moved to Phoenix, AZ as a senior in high school, I thought I'd never see "green" nature again. Much to my surprise NAU is beautiful and surrounded by tall trees. I love being able to hike and experience the outdoors around Flagstaff (I had never lived near a mountain/on a mountain). As well as having all 4 seasons (I love the snow). However, I still love cacti and have acquired about 12 different species since moving here.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: As an RA, I am really excited to meet new people and introduce them to NAU. I studied abroad in England, Spring of 2015 and am looking forward to reconnecting with students from other countries and learning more about different cultures and languages. As well as helping students adjust to and learn about American culture and Flagstaff.
