South Village Apartments
To be eligible for family housing, the husband, wife, or single parent renting the apartment must be a full-time student during the academic year.
For family apartments, a parent must have legal custody of one or more children. Your spouse and/or children must reside with you at all times for you to remain eligible for family housing and only members of your immediate family (spouse and dependent children under 18 years) may live in
the family housing apartment.
You must carry no less than 12 (undergraduate students) and 9 (graduate students) credit hours each semester during the academic year. During the summer, you must carry 3 credit hours over the summer OR be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. If you drop below the credit hour requirements, you will no longer be eligible for family housing.
If you withdraw from the university
Once you are no longer registered, you must vacate your family apartment within 48 hours of withdrawal. Call your Residence Hall Director (RHD) or Resident Assistant (RA) to make checkout arrangements.
Assignments to family housing
South Village provides a blended multicultural community of upper-division students, including returning sophomores, international students, and students with families. The community includes convenient onsite laundry facilities and a community center with front desk, computer lab, kitchen and TV area.

Rent & making payments
The family housing contract is a month-to-month contract and availability varies throughout the year. Placements into family housing are made as space becomes available.
On the housing application for the waiting list, you will be requested to note your preferred check-in date so we can determine availability for that time frame.
Once an apartment is available, we will notify you by telephone or email to arrange a move-in date.
Verification of receipt of required documents: a copy of your marriage license, divorce papers, children's birth certificate(s), or custody papers (if applicable) will be completed.
Your student LOUIE account will be charged rent based on the agreed upon date of move-in. Payment of one month's rent must be made to the LOUIE account before move-in occurs. Upon confirmation of payment the hall staff will be notified of your arrival.

Rent is billed directly to your student LOUIE account at the beginning of each semester.

How to pay
Rent is charged to your student LOUIE account at the beginning of each semester and is due on the 1st day of each month. Rates are effective beginning August 1.
All utilities are included in rent, which include:

Child Care Voucher Program
South Village Apartments is managed by a professional Residence Hall Director (RHD) responsible for overall complex administration, maintenance, activities, programming, student assistance, and community standards.
The RHD supervises a group of Resident Assistants (RAs), paraprofessional student staff trained to advise and assist students, plan activities, provide resources facilitators, and maintain community standards.
For maintenance concerns, call F-IXED (3-4933) from any on-campus telephone and within 30 minutes someone will come to review and fix the problem. Should you experience an emergency maintenance situation, please contact the front desk or RA on call so that proper maintenance staff can be notified immediately. Emergency maintenance situations include:
- overflowing toilet
- burst steam pipe
- water leak
- sparking or inconsistent electricity
