Printer and Supported Software
Posters are printed using a Hewlett Packard Designjet Z2100 Photo Printer, which is capable of printing posters to a maximum height of 44 inches and a maximum length of 129 inches (a 1/2-inch margin is required on all sides). Posters are printed on a heavyweight coated matte paper.
The programs supported include Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), the preferred format, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Files created using other types of software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign, must be exported to PDF. Regardless of the design software used to create your poster, it is strongly recommended that posters be exported to PDF for printing.
To allow time to resolve any unanticipated problems, please schedule an appointment to print your poster at least 1 week in advance of when it is needed. Appointments may be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. A $20 charge is incurred to make a printing appointment, which is applied to the cost of printing your poster, unless the appointment is missed. Missed appointments result in the forfeiture of the $20 fee. Poster files may be dropped off at Room 220 of NAU’s Applied Research and Development Building (Bldg. 56).
Email Paul Heinrich to schedule an appointment.
Costs and Payment
The cost of printing a poster is $5 per square foot. This charge is applied to the final product and paper wasted as the result of client errors. Should more than 15 minutes of staff time be required to prepare a poster for printing, the client will incur a $40 per hour charge for formatting and editing services. This fee does not apply to plotting time or technical difficulties. Final charges will be discussed with the client to ensure appropriate billing.
Payments may be made online using an NAU account or credit card. Personal checks are also accepted.
