The 2013 Western Regional Honors Council Conference will be hosted by Northern Arizona University Honors Program and the Western Regional Honors Council. This year’s theme is “Learning, Creating, and Observing: Bright Ideas among the Stars” and we are looking forward to gathering with you from April 11-13th, 2013 at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff, AZ.

The call for conference presentation proposals was January 25th, 2013. Late proposals were accepted until February 8. The call for proposals is now closed. Presenters (except for those submitted after January 25) were notified on February 1. Late proposals will be notified of their status by no later than Friday, February 15.

The preferred deadline for conference registration is by March 15th, 2013, and in all instances, registrations must be received by March 25th, 2013. Complete details on conference costs and registration deadlines are available in the Conference Registration section

The conference opening reception has been scheduled for Thursday, April 11th. Please join us as we welcome you to one of the highest elevation cities in the country. (Denver, CO, the "mile high city," is 1500 feet LOWER in elevation than Flagstaff! In Flagstaff, you can really reach the stars).

A draft of the conference schedule is available here.

NEW! We have concluded scheduling presentation sessions, and have included a link to that 'presentation grid' here.

Call for Presentation Proposals [Top]

Our conference theme is “Learning, Creating, Observing: Bright Ideas among the Stars” and the presentation proposal submission deadline is January 25th, 2013. We welcome a variety of proposals for presentation including student research papers. There will be a scheduled poster session, but only easels can be provided for display of posters, so please plan accordingly.

We are particularly interested in proposals which describe and celebrate this idea of discovery and collaboration within our programs and colleges, across our institutions, or more broadly in our local and regional communities. The conference theme offers all of us the chance to propose and discuss new directions for Honors in general.

To submit a proposal, please follow the link below, and have a prepared 50 word description and a 150 word abstract of your poster or presentation ready prior to submission. The description is used for publication in the conference program/agenda, and the abstract will be used in the selection of presentations by the selection committee and will not be used for publication.

In addition, you need to attest that your presentation, description, and abstract have been reviewed by your college/program dean or director prior to submission. This approval will be verified prior to review of any submission.

Click here for more details and a link to the on-line submission form.

Decisions on acceptance of proposals will be communicated to Honors Deans/Directors and to presenters by February 15th, 2013.
