Institutional Measures and Remedies

Institutional remedies may be short-term or permanent, remedial measures to ensure (a) the safety of all individuals involved in a complaint of sex discrimination/harassment and (b) the fairness of the complaint process.  They are not decisions about responsibility.

Institutional remedies can be enacted quickly, even before (or without) a complaint being filed.

Remedies can include:

  • No-contact orders
  • Changes to on-campus housing assignments
  • Temporary emergency housing (for off-campus students)
  • Changes to class, activity, or student employment schedules
  • Academic accommodations
  • Interim suspension
  • Additional measures may also be possible

The Office of Student Life coordinates/authorizes institutional remedies.
