Ecoss houses the Colorado Plateau Analytical Laboratory, which is a major service center for the Northern Arizona University science community as well as scientists around the world who require chemical analyses of environmental samples.
Stable isotope analysis is a focus of our analytical facilities. The laboratory houses four isotope-ratio mass spectrometers with over a dozen “front-ends”, preparation units used to convert solid, gas, or liquid samples for isotope analyses. Recently, the laboratory has also acquired a number of cavity-ring down spectrometers, laser-based systems for isotope quantification.
Environmental analysis is also a major focus of the Colorado Plateau Analytical Laboratory, which houses a suite of instrumentation for analyses of environmental samples. We analyze over 30,000 samples a year for researchers from Northern Arizona University and around the world.
