About the Center for International Education

We bring the world to NAU so our students can become better global citizens.

Students parade with their home countries' flags.

Committed to teaching a global perspective

Our mission, vision, and values guide all that we do, helping our faculty and staff make the best decisions for our students. We’re proud to have won the 2012 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization—a national honor bestowed on no more than five institutions each year—as well as the 2017 Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education.

NAU’s Center for International Education is responsible for making sure the university meets and exceeds its global goals as outlined by its strategic plan, including:

  • strengthening the academic infrastructure for international education
  • supporting faculty development opportunities through international teaching and research
  • developing and nurturing relationships with partner universities and organizations abroad
  • recruiting and admitting international students
  • providing a variety of services to international students and scholars
  • supporting NAU students interested in study abroad opportunities
