Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band performs a variety of historically significant works for band, as well as transcriptions that are considered to be the core repertoire of the wind medium.

The Symphonic Band provides essential knowledge for music performance and music education majors.


We encourage students from all colleges at Northern Arizona University to join.

Membership in the Symphonic Band requires an concert ensemble audition, which takes place before the beginning of each semester.


If you are accepted you will need to enroll in one of the following:

  • Freshman: MUP 170, Section 05
  • Sophomore: MUP 270, Section 05
  • Junior: MUP 370, Section 05
  • Senior: MUP 470, Section 05
  • Graduate: MUP 670, Section 05



The Symphonic Band rehearses in room 146 of the Performing and Fine Arts building (number 37a). The schedule is: 

Fall semester
  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:50 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. 
Spring semester
  • Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:50 p.m. to 3:10 p.m.


The Symphonic Band also presents several concerts each season.
