The Art Outreach Program
After a hiatus of several years, the Northern Arizona University Art Museum is delighted to announce the reinstatement of our Outreach Program to the public schools of Northern and Central Arizona. The Program offers in-service training to teachers who are planning field trips to the museum with their students, and who would like to have background information regarding the artists, themes, and methods on view in our special exhibitions.
The NAU Art Museum will provide briefings of approximately three hours, together with teacher packets, lunch, and parking passes. The teacher packets will contain biographical information on the artists, interpretive exercises. as well as extended commentary on the artists' processes and an index of technical terms. We know from our pilot program that these in-service opportunities help to prepare Arizona students for their field trips, generating expectations and increasing receptivity.
Among the communities we will be serving are Flagstaff, Winslow, Sedona, Cottonwood, and Prescott.
The schedule of exhibitions appears below and we encourage interested teachers to arrange for in-service training on Mondays or Wednesdays during the first two weeks of the run of each exhibition.
