Russell P. Chick, M.D.
NAUAA Dwight Patterson (1934) Alumnus of the Year
1969 BS Zoology
Dr. Chick is a 1969 graduate of NAU and an alumnus of the University of Arizona College of Medicine. A frequent speaker on orthopedic sports injuries at the local, state, and national level, Dr. Chick was team doctor for the Arizona Cardinals. As such, he has shared his expertise with all levels of sports, including youth, high school, and professional leagues. He is as founder and Medical Director of St. Joseph's Center for Sports Medicine.
Francisco J. Padilla

Mr. Padilla, a 2001 graduate of NAU with a Master's of Education, is a crime victim trial advocate with the Pima County Attorney's Victim Witness Program. His commitment to the community spans the last decade, in which he served in an array of programs that have had a profoundly positive impact on the citizens of Arizona. Mr. Padilla has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to unite people and ideas to further the public good.
John H. Stephenson
NAUAA Jeff Ferris (1936) Volunteer of the Year
1963 BS Forestry
After 32 years with the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Department of the Interior, John Stephenson retired in 1995 as chief of biological resources for Arizona. His BLM assignments included Coos Bay, Ore.; Fairbanks, Alaska.; Washington, D.C.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Phoenix, Ariz. He is an active member of the Arizona Wildlife Federation board of directors, and volunteers with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Public Lands Foundation. John contributed extensively this year to the NAU Alumni Association volunteer effort.

NAUAA Joe and Marie Rolle (1941/1950) Spirit of NAU Award
A retired Nogales School District superintendent and a past president of the NAU Alumni Association, Buck received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Alumni Association in 1987. As a volunteer recruiter for NAU in the Tubac area, Buck gets involved with both students and their families. Both Buck and Marcia, who retired as a teacher in the Nogales Public Schools, work actively with the association's board of directors, attend many key Alumni Association events, and continue to promote NAU's philosophies of education and community involvement.
