Freedom of expression in the NAU academic community

NAU faculty and staff cultivate and sustain an environment that supports freedom of expression and inquiry in the context of teaching, learning, scholarship, research, and creative activity. Our community is founded on inclusion, mutual respect, curiosity, responsible and civil dialogue, and rigorous analysis in the spirit of inquiry and the pursuit of understanding.

Artificial intelligence

With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools, NAU is committed to staying at the forefront of these technologies and their impacts on how we foster student learning and career readiness. Current initiatives are focused on offering faculty guidance for adapting to these technologies and the Transformation through Artificial Intelligence in Learning faculty grant program.

Dr. Karen Pugliesi has served as Executive Vice President and Provost since June 2021. She is Professor of Sociology and has served in a variety of leadership positions at Northern Arizona University for over 20 years.
