Connecting from NAU's Network

Windows Computers

If your computer is joined to NAU Network then your home drive is automatically mapped to "Computer" (Windows Vista and 7) or "My Computer" (Windows 2000 and XP).

If you cannot find or connect to your home drive please call the ITS Solution Center 928/523-1511


Apple / Macintosh Computers

If your Mac is on the NAU Network then follow the steps listed below:

  1. Navigate to the "Finder" (It is the icon that looks like a face split in two)
  2. Click on the "Go" menu in the menu bar
  3. Click on "Connect to Server" in the "Go" menu 
  4. In the "Server Address:" field type in "smb://bonsai.ucc.nau.edu/*/****"
    1. * Type in the first letter of your user id
    2. **** Type in your full user id 
  5. Once the address is completed then click "Connect"
  6. In the authentication screen choose to "Connect as" a "Registered User" in the name field type in your user id and in the password field type in your current NAU password.
  7. Once your user name and password have been entered click "Connect"
  8. The window for you home drive will open. You will also see a mounted drive on your desktop while you are connected.

Connecting from an outside network

Windows Computers

If your Home Drive is automatically mapped to "Computer" (Windows Vista and 7) or "My Computer" (Windows 2000 and XP) located in "Computer" then when you start your VPN you will be able to connect to your Home Drive

If you Home Drive is not mapped then follow the steps listed below:

  1. Connect to your VPN 
  2. Once connected right click on your desktop and select "New" 
  3. Select "Shortcut"
  4. In the "Type the location of the item" type \\bonsai.ucc.nau.edu\*\****
    1. * Type in the first letter of your user id
    2. **** Type in your full user id
  5. Once that is completed click "Next"
  6. In the "Type a name for this shortcut:" type "NAU Home Drive" and click "Next"
  7. This should put an Icon on your desktop called "NAU Home Drive" double click the icon to access your Home Drive.

You may be prompted between steps 6 and 7 with an authentication screen or when you click on the Icon on your desktop. If you are prompted for your information follow the steps below:

  1. In the user name field enter in your user id and in the password field type in your current NAU password
  2. Once your user name and password have been entered press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
