First Year Advising
We encourage all first-year students to read through the Yearly "To-Do" List. Enrolling in classes can be
overwhelming. Use our services and
guidance to keep your degree progress on track.
Before Orientation: Priority Enrollment
If you’re a new, incoming student,
submit a Priority Enrollment profile prior to attending Orientation.
Prepare for next term: Early Enrollment Advising
Current NAU students, have your Academic
Advising Hold removed by completing Early Enrollment Advising. Review your goals,
courses, and degree requirements each term before enrollment.
Drop-in, Walk-in, Email, Chat
Your Advisor is always available by email
and check with Gateway’s front desk (928-523-4772) for up-to-date drop-in and
walk-in hours to see our on-call Gateway advisors. Walk-in is usually the first 2 weeks of each
term and during enrollment. Drop-in is throughout the term. Check online to see if an advisor is
available for general help via live chat Note: you cannot have your Academic Advising Hold removed through
these advising channels, see “Prepare for your next term” above.
Major Exploration, Follow up, Career appointments
Call Gateway’s front desk (928-523-4772)
or contact your Academic Advisor to schedule an appointment. All appointments must be made at least 24
hours in advance. Note: you cannot

“Prepare for your next term” above.
