How are you leaving your mark at NAU? Become an Academic Peer Educator to discover how your academic triumphs and experiences can help first-year students! This is your opportunity to make a difference on campus and in the lives of first-year Lumberjacks! As an Academic Peer Educator you will be able to connect with first-year students and become a key role model in their lives as they transition to college.
Different ways you can leave your mark at NAU include:
Peer Coach
  • Attend assigned NAU 120/NAU 130/NAU 180 classes weekly and co-facilitate activities and lessons
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring for first-year and/or international students
  • Work approximately 11 hours per week
  • Attend related ATP events (Sex Fest, NAU Reads, etc)
  • Engage in all trainings and weekly CARE Team meetings
  • Conduct yourself professionally in all work-related contexts
Peer Instructor
  • Teach two sections of NAU 100 as the instructor 
  • Facilitate weekly lesson plans
  • Schedule and attend weekly office hours
  • Work approximately 9 hours per week
  • Engage in weekly Teaching Team meetings
  • Conduct yourself professionally in all work-related contexts
Peak Performance Math Coach
  • Provide math tutoring in an online setting
  • Offer college-student perspective and support to incoming first-year students
  • Attend weekly conference calls with a team leader and fellow Math Coaches
  • Work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the summer at $9.00/hour
  • Enrollment in training class during Spring term

    Group Interviews will be held October 27 and 28, from 6-8PM for the position of  Peak Performance Math Coach

Peer Educator Requirements:
  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative and semester GPA
  • Freshman, sophomore or junior status to apply
  • Enrollment in the training class during Spring Term (Mondays 4:00pm-6:30pm)

  • Have one professional reference submit Online Recommendation Form by October 25th, 2015.
  • If selected for an in person interview, you will be required to bring a paper copy of your resume and a cover letter as your “ticket in”. You may wish to begin preparing these materials in advance of scheduling an interview.
Interview Timeline:
  • Group Interviews (Applicants will come for 1 hour during one of the days/timeframes below):  October 21, 5:00pm - 8:00pm OR October 25, 1:00pm - 5:00pm
  • Individual Interviews: October 29 - November 6
  • Offer : November 9
