NAU 130: Back on Track

“I truly want to thank you for helping me learn to “swim” through college. Last semester I felt like I was drowning and I didn’t know where to look for a lifeline. I now know where the lifelines are and I feel as though I am using them effectively. I also feel like I am a stronger “swimmer” because of this class. Thank you so much for your help and guidance. And thank you for helping me believe in myself again.”

NAU 130 is designed to help students get BACK on TRACK to college success! Through a focus on six unique principles students will reflect on last semester and develop improved strategies for the future. Students will be shown an array of college success techniques they can immediately apply to their educational journey. This course is far more than study skills; it is about making changes that lead to accomplishing their academic and personal goals. Each student is also paired with an Academic Success Coach who guides them through the course and helps them develop a plan for student success.

Six Core Principles

Owning- taking responsibility for how you interact with the world around you and the choices you make

Striving- the actions we take to reach our goals

Regulating- controlling how much time and effort you put into your actions

Managing- prioritizing the things in your life in a way that supports your personal well-being

Shaping- having a meaningful vision of how you’d like your life to be

Connecting- using resources, mentors and support systems to support your collegiate success
