Info Sessions

We strongly encourage you to attend an info session! The more you know about the job, the better able you'll be to prepare a competitive application. We look forward to meeting you at one of the Info Sessions listed below!

What is covered at an Info Session?

Info sessions are hosted by our current Academic Peer Leaders and a staff member. Here's an overview of what's covered in these sessions:
  • We'll give you the inside scoop on what we're looking for in the application process
  • You'll get an in-depth description of each of the jobs we have available.
  • Current Academic Peer Leaders will talk a little bit about their experience and professional development opportunities.
  • We'll show you how your experience as an Academic Peer Leader sets you apart from other applicants when you start looking for jobs after college.

Applicant Workshops with Career Services

Attendance at either or both of the workshops described below shows us how committed you are to this application process. Go the extra mile to prepare, and we'll definitely notice!

Resume/Coverletter-Writing Workshops

Representatives from Career Services will be hosting these workshops to help you prepare the best possible resume and coverletter for your APL Application. You'll cover the following topics:
  • How to highlight aspects of previous work and volunteer experiences to fit the APL job description of your choice.
  • Professionalizing the language in your resume and coverletter.
  • Tips for improving the formatting of your resume and coverletter to look professional and make it easy-to-read.
  • Learn about some of the most common mistakes we see during the application process each year.
  • Get the inside track on what we're really looking for in our Academic Peer Leader applicants, so that you can show us how well you fit the bill!
  • You'll also learn quite a bit about what employers are looking for in general - not just for this job.

Interviewing Skills Workshops

These workshops are also hosted by the experts over at Career Services. They'll help you improve your interviewing skills just in time for Group Interviews. See below for a quick overview of the topics the Interviewing Skills Workshops will cover.
  • Learn exactly what we're looking for in a great candidate during APL Group Interviews!
  • Do's and don'ts for group and individual interviews.
  • Learn how to respond to a question professionally - even when you're stumped!
  • Learn how to describe your previous work, leadership, and volunteer experiences in a way that shows that you have what it takes to be an awesome APL!
  • You'll also develop skills that can help you be successful in any interview environment, not just for becoming an APL!
