Description: To belay someone in climbing is to control the slack in a life supporting rope with the aid of a friction device. While participating in this clinic you will not only learn to belay using the PBUS method, but also how to conduct a basic gear inspection, properly fit and use a climbing harness, tie a figure eight follow through knot and load and use two different belay devices; tube style and Gri Gri.

Introduction to Bouldering at the NAU Climbing Wall

Description: Bouldering is a form of climbing in which climbers climb without ropes or harnesses to a maximum height of 12 feet in our facility. Bouldering problems are often more difficult than roped climbing routes and are an excellent way to build strength and endurance in climbing. During this two hour instructional clinic our instructors will introduce bouldering terminology, the rating system, movement, spotting, and falling technique and allow time for guided practice. Class size is limited to 20 participants and the best part of all, IT’S FREE!!! No preregistration required.
