Internship: A form of on-the-job training that provides a unique chance to undergo practical instruction in ones field of study. An internship consists of an exchange of services for experience between the student and an organization.
Internships are one of the most important opportunities students have to set themselves apart from the rest. Internships provide students with the opportunity to:
- Gain work experience
- Create a competitive edge in the job market
- Start networking
- Decide if the field is right for you
- Apply classroom knowledge to the real world
Each department has different minimum requirements for student to meet before they can apply for internship credit. Internships must be arranged the semester before you will be participating. Be sure to check with the department for deadlines. Please note that specific internships may have additional requirements.
