Williams Community Learning Center
Overview
Williams Community Learning Center is a component of Williams Unified School
District. It is a program focused on “Systems Change.” Systems
Change is a joint effort by the community to understand the workings of the
Williams community. Together, they explore how aspects of their community
work or do not work and how they can change or improve those that do not
work.
Duties
Williams Community Learning Center offers different
placement in which interns can experience the workings of the community
collaboration of Systems Change, the main one being with Williams Alliance
Against Drug Abuse (WAADA) is an effort to unite the citizens of Williams to
prevent and reduce the illicit use of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD)
throughout the community of Williams.
The Alliance recognizes that strengthening families and
providing positive life skills is one to the most effective ways of preventing
substance abuse. The Alliance brings together community resources to
deliver services and activities to support the mission.
However, in addition to WAADA, this internship can include
placement in other services Williams Community Learning Center offers, such as:
- Family Parent Center
- social services outreach
- volunteer coordination and recruitment
- a variety of youth programs (Fit and Strong, Pay
it Forward, Builders Club, Spanish Club, etc.).
