Bare Aspen Ranch Wine Tasting Event to benefit Coconino County Special Olympics
Overview
Bare Aspen Ranch Wine Tasting fundraiser is hosted every September by a local
group of individuals and benefits Coconino County Special Olympics athletes.
This year’s event is scheduled for September 10, 2011. It is a casual
event nestled in the aspens at a 160 acre ranch located at Hart Prairie (12
miles out on Hwy. 180 from the SnowBowl turnoff at the forest service 151
turnoff).
This fundraising event offers:
- a live and silent auction
- exhibition softball games highlighting our
Coconino County Special Olympic athletes Mexican food from local restaurants
- wine
- dessert
- live music
All of this is done in memory of Kristen Campos, a local
long time Special Olympic athlete who died of leukemia. Donations, for our
event—monetary and auction items—enable us to provide more than 300 athletes in
Coconino County with:
- training
- Equipment
- uniforms
- transportation
Duties
- work with a committee to assist with necessary
details of upcoming wine tasting event
- monthly meetings with committee
- distribute letters to community businesses to
collect cash donations and/ or live & silent auction items
- keep a running list of businesses that make
donations
- assist with local advertising
- write thank-you notes to donators
- update website
- distribute tickets
- display posters out in the community
- contact chair weekly
- work on ranch for clean-up day
- set up tables/ tents/ chairs
- volunteer the day of the event
