Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice – online degree

If you are interested in pursuing a career in one of the major areas of the criminal justice system—the courts, corrections, or law enforcement—or if you want to further your education in law school or graduate school, the BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice online degree will provide you with the knowledge and analytical skills to do so.

The online format of the BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice is for students throughout Arizona who aren’t on the Flagstaff campus. Tucson area students can combine live classes with online.

Students applying for the online option must:

  • have earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice or Administration of Justice Studies from an accredited Arizona Community College
  • have completed the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC)

Note: Associate of Applied Science Degrees (AAS) do not qualify for this option.

The requirements for this degree are the same as for the Flagstaff campus’ BS Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Following acceptance to the program, the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice requires the following:

  • 56 units of coursework at Northern Arizona University
  • completion of 36 units of major requirements with a grade of C or better
  • minor in sociology or political science
  • completion of 120 units of credits

Admission to the online option for the BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice involves two admissions steps:

  1. Apply to Northern Arizona University: Students should indicate on this application that they are seeking the Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Official transcripts of all previous college credits must be submitted in order to be admitted as a degree seeking student.
  2. Immediately after admission to the university, apply to the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. This application must be received by the department at least 45 days prior to the beginning of classes in the term for which you are applying. Admission to this program is currently limited. Only complete applications with unofficial transcripts will be accepted for review by the Admission Committee.
