Why I chose NAU: After having an awesome experience as a Graduate Student and Assistant here at NAU, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave. NAU is a great fit for me because of the atmosphere, professional opportunities, surrounding area and most importantly the people. Being an RHD gives me a chance to learn and grow as a young professional while helping students succeed and become well-rounded citizens.

Why I chose NAU: I applied to NAU on a bit of a whim. I had no idea where I wanted to go to school and after being accepted here, my dad took me out to visit for a Christmas present. I fell in love with the campus and Flagstaff and I can't imagine spending my undergraduate studies anywhere else.

Why I'm excited to be an RA: My freshman RA made all the difference during my first year at college. I hope that I can influence others in the way I was influenced by my RA

Name: Jonathan Bloot
Floor: 3rd Floor West
Year/Major: Sophomore - Mechanical Engineering
Hometown: Acton, CA

Why I chose NAU: NAU was a bit of a diamond in the rough for me. Coming from California, I had assumed Flagstaff to be as hot and dry as Phoenix. Yet upon visiting, I fell in love with the town of Flagstaff and the NAU community. The opportunities provided on campus combined with the historical culture of the surrounding town are unparalleled.

Why I’m excited to be an RA: I am excited to be an RA because I get the opportunity to meet new people and make their college experience the best it can be.

Name: Matthew Duray
Floor: 1st Floor East
Year/Major: Sophomore - Computer Science
Hometown: Spokane, WA

Why I chose NAU: When it came down to choosing a school to spend the next 4 years of my life at, I didn't have the slightest clue where to begin. Yet, of all the choices, NAU spoke "Home" to me the most. The view of Mt. Humphreys is unlike any other and the culture and people welcome you with open arms. The university is as diverse, accepting, and exciting as my love for adventure demands. There could not be a better place for me than Northern Arizona University.

Why I’m excited to be an RA: I have had both a brother and a close friend influence me positively in their roles as RA's here at NAU. Seeing what they accomplished in helping their residents and the difference they made in building community on campus inspired me to pursue the path of being an RA. I am excited to have my opportunity to build relationships and community with my residents and those I help around me just as my peers before me.

Name: Matthew Dotzler
Floor: 2nd Floor West

Why I chose NAU: As a transfer student, I was looking for a school that could provide me a great learning environment and still maintain an active student body. NAU went above and beyond my expectations and after touring, I could not see myself attending any other university. The campus is beautiful, the people were amazing, and the academic advisers were willing to listen to my goals and set me on the path to success.

Why I'm excited to be an RA: I am excited to take on the challenges of being a Resident Assistant and to have the opportunity to build a community within my hall. I want to be able to make a difference in my resident's experience and provide them with all the resources they need to succeed here at NAU.

Year/Major: Senior - History
Hometown: Apache Junction, AZ

Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU because I liked the small atmosphere that it provided to its student population. At NAU I don't just feel like another number. I am able to develop a relationship with my professors and other students easier because of the small atmosphere that the university is set in. And its really fun here!

Why I'm excited to be an RA: I am excited to be an RA because I absolutely love helping people to feel at home in the residence halls in which they live. To me, living on campus is one of the key components to having a great college experience. In light of this I think it is important to have a comfortable living situation. I realize that coming to college is a tough transition from high school because I have went through it myself. It is my pleasure to help Freshmen residents have the best experience with that transition as possible! I love talking with people and developing relationships with them so that they know that I am there to help and that they can count on me! Being an RA allows me to have that 24/7 so it's perfect!
