Sechrist Resident Assistants
Name: Andrew Gallegos
Floor: 1st Floor North
Year/Major: Junior/Political Science, Spanish & Criminal Justice minors
Hometown: Glendale, AZ
Why I chose NAU: I remember when I was just nine years old and I was visiting family in Flagstaff with my father. My dad told me about how he graduated from NAU and was able to make a better life for himself because he did so. I wanted to accomplish the same achievement and knew that NAU would help me along the way to that goal.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: I'm so excited to be an RA because I remember when I first moved to NAU as a freshman and literally had to start my life over in a place that I was not completely familiar with. I know that I can be a great resource and asset for my residents and in helping them to be successful in living on-campus at NAU like my original RA was for me.

Name: Colin B. Baker
Floor: 1st Floor South
Year/Major: Junior/Criminology and Criminal Justice & Psychology
Hometown: Sierra Vista, AZ
Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU because it is smaller than the other in state universities and it had a kinder feel to it. The people here are very nice and friendly.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: I am excited to be returning to the position because I had an amazing first year in the position. I am looking forward to a second year and having an even better group of residents.

Name: Kenzie Hunt
Floor: 2nd Floor north
Year/Major: Senior/Interior Design & Business Management

Why I chose NAU: I wanted to get away from home, but still feel like I was in the same area. I love the snow and all of the amazing outdoor things you can do in Flagstaff. I love the atmosphere here!
Why I’m excited to be an RA: To get to know all of the amazing residents that will be in Sechrist and to make their first year the best it can be :)

Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU, because through my research I’ve learned about wonderful things about the campus and the Flagstaff area.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: I'm excited to be an RA, because I love bonding with my residents and being not only a mentor but a friend. My RA was welcoming and made my freshman year awesome and she has inspired me to be an awesome RA and be a positive influence on my residents.

Floor: 3rd Floor South
Year/Major: Sophomore, Hotel & Restaurant Management
Hometown: Peoria, AZ
Why I chose NAU: I had some friends who were already going here and loved it and as soon as I came up for a tour I knew why. The weather was nice, the atmosphere was great, and I liked the idea of a smaller town and going someplace new but still being close enough to home.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: I love helping people out however I can and being an RA is a great way to do just that. I've had some struggles adjusting to college and It'd be great to know that I could make that obstacle easier for others.

Name: Daniel Bonnaud
Floor: 4th Floor North
Year/Major: Senior/Business Management
Hometown: La Mirada, CA
Why I chose NAU: I chose to come to NAU for a few different reasons: the first is location. NAU is beautiful, being surrounded by the largest ponderosa pine forest in the nation and being nestled next to the amazing San Francisco Peaks. The second is the student body diversity and the third is affordability.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: I am excited to be an RA this year because no other job provides such an outstanding opportunity to meet and interact with people from all over the country. I can make a difference in somebody's life as an RA and few other jobs can provide that chance!

Why I’m excited to be an RA: This is my second year being an RA in Sechrist Hall and I couldn't be more excited. With the experience I had last year, I can't wait for a new set of residents, who are freshman, to show them the ropes. I'm very excited to be a big part of my resident's life as they take that next big step on their way to success!

Name: Travis L. Custer
Floor: 6th Floor South
Year/Major: Sophomore/Hotel & Restaurant Management
Hometown: Simi Valley, CA
Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU because I love nature and have always wanted to live in the snow. Living my whole life on the sandy beaches of California, it’s a very different experience, but I can say it has been the best experience ever! In every direction we are surrounded by beautiful green trees and they get even better with a sheet of white when the snow hits in the winter! (Be sure to pack your BIG jacket!) And last but definitely not least, I enjoy the people here. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming no matter who you are!
Why I’m excited to be an RA: My first year I had an amazing RA who really showed me how to cope with living away from family/friends for the first time and becoming a part of my new community. I am excited to be there for you as well as really get to know you as a friend and show you what NAU is all about! Can’t wait to see you around when school starts!
