Why I chose NAU: I chose NAU because I was lucky enough to spend my undergraduate junior year here for the NSE RA Exchange program. I fell in love with the vibrant NAU campus and community; I love the town of Flagstaff and how easy it is to get involved with the NAU and Flagstaff communities. I was also drawn by the student affairs masters program. I was very lucky to meet many capable and considerate people who helped me to find my place at NAU and I am excited to meet many more new people and experience all of the things that this university has to offer.

Why I chose NAU: I wanted the full out-of-state college experience (academics, sports, clubs, etc.) without the full out-of-state college price tag! Getting involved on campus and making new friends has really changed my life! Name: Carlos Rios
Floor: 6th Floor
Year/Major: Sophomore - Political Science
Hometown(s): Anaheim, CA; Casa Grande, AZ
Why I chose NAU: At first, I chose NAU solely on financial decisions and its distance from my home. I didn’t want to go to another state but I also didn’t want to go to the local community college. I really wanted to get to a university right away. However, after coming up to Flagstaff for orientation, I quickly realized what a great environment the city and university had. To me it was amazing and I fully committed to NAU. A decision I do not regret.
Why I’m excited to be an RA: My first year on campus brought positive experiences that I’d never forget, and overall it was a great year. This time around I’m looking forward to create those cool and fun experiences for my residents. It’ll be great to meet a variety of new people and interact with them, hopefully making new friends in the process. I’m excited to be of service to the residents and help them out in any way possible.
Name: Natalie Silvers
Floor: 7th floor
Year/Major: Sophomore - Nursing
Hometown: Queen Creek, AZ
Why I Chose NAU: I chose NAU for a multitude of reasons. To start, when I came to tour NAU I was embraced by the welcoming feel of Flagstaff and NAU campus. Everyone I encountered, particularly the student tour guides, were genuine and wanted to personally connect with me. This was unique to NAU compared to other universities I toured prior. Additionally, I am an outdoors kind of girl and NAU is the best place to be for pretty much anything outdoorsy. Northern Arizona University just felt right. The gut feeling was there, so I went with it.
Why I am excited to be an RA: College can be a lot to take in for freshman and I understand that. From personal life happenings to extracurricular activities to classwork, college has a lot to offer and therefore a lot to balance. I want to be there as a resource for students as they begin this new (more) independent journey towards adulthood. I look forward to interacting with students and connecting with them on a personable level. I am excited to see the personal and group development within the students that I have the privilege to work with.
Name: Scott Standley
Floor: 4th floor
Year/Major: Sophomore - Mechanical Engineering
Hometown: Tucson, AZ
Why I chose NAU: Initially, I was just looking at NAU because it was an in-state school, however, I quickly realized what a great experience it would be. I have always been drawn to any kind of outdoor activity, and NAU is located at such a prime location for so many great outdoor opportunities. I love how in my free time, I can literally ride my bike for 15 minutes to get to some awesome trails!
Why I’m excited to be an RA: My RA helped my freshmen year to be an awesome experience, so, in my search for jobs, I realized being an RA would be a great opportunity for me to hopefully do the same for future freshmen. I want freshmen know they are welcomed to our great campus, ultimately so they can enjoy NAU as much as I have!
