Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH)
The Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) initiative was created
with the explicit goal of helping Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender,
Questioning and Gender Variant students experience a greater sense of belonging
in NAU’s residential communities. Vibrant GIH communities will additionally
advance student learning and greater appreciation for diversity for those
students who live in the community and those who live in proximity.
GIH will be located in physical environments that
currently compliment the goals of the initiative. The
purpose of GIH is to provide
a comfortable, safe living environment where a student can room with any other
student—regardless of sex, gender, gender identity/expression, or sexual
orientation. Providing a supportive, inclusive living space is critical for
developing a healthy place for students to learn, develop, and grow.
To submit an application to live in GIH for the
2013-2014 academic year, click here. Be part of an effort to build a supportive living community based on mutual respect and inclusivity of all individuals.
