Assignments to family housing  

Assignment process

We make assignments every semester. You will first be notified of an available apartment by telephone or e-mail and later assigned a specific apartment by the Family Residence Hall Director (RHD).

NOTE: Sometimes there is a waiting period. Please wait for an assignment before making plans to move to campus.

After the assignment

Check-in

The Family Residence Hall Director (RHD) will assign your apartment and check-in date. You will need to pay one month’s rent before check-in.

To check in, you will need to present:

  • your receipt for your first month’s rent
  • a copy of your marriage license, divorce papers, children's birth certificate(s), or custody papers (if applicable to the Office of Residence Life)

Move-in

ID card

If you do not already have your Northern Arizona University ID Card, visit the JacksCard Office in the University Union. You will need it to check-in.

Parking

Visit Parking Services at nau.edu/parking for parking permits and campus maps. All residents and guests must obtain parking permits prior to parking on campus.

Beds

If you need a bed, you may request a full and twin size.

Cable and internet

Basic cable is included and already installed. If you would like extended services, call SuddenLink Communications at 877-794-2724.

Moving in

Unloading

When you move in, you will need to unload your belongings at the designated unloading locations. When you check in and get your keys, staff will direct you to these clearly labeled parking spaces .You may check out a handtruck/dolly at your Family Housing Office.
