Black widow spider
The black widow spider is one of the many creatures found at The Colorado
Plateau Museum of Arthropod Biodiversity at Northern Arizona University. The
museum houses more than 250,000 arthropod specimens, primarily from the western
United States and Mexico. The major goal of the museum is to make the
collection more relevant to ecologists, especially those working on projects
related to issues of conservation and biodiversity. Museum staff help
researchers identify insects, spiders, and other bugs. Photo: IDEA Lab
